The title of this book is a rephrasing of the famous saying by Leo Tolstoi. The book by the Russian philosopher Ivan Il`in (1883-1954) is an argument with the prevalent philosophy of "non-violent resistance" in the situation when the people who attack your house and country are not strangers but your neighbors, your compatriots. This book about the justification for using forceful resistance literally split the Russian community abroad and resulted in polemics in the Russian press.
