This book opens a new series which presents a popular but complete exposition of a new scholarly tendency, the reconstruction of a historical chronology of the ancient world and Medieval times. It questions the commonly used chronology of history, particularly Russian history. The authors, a historian and a mathematician, start with the history of Old Rus not only because they are Russians, but because Russian history, in their opinion, is "a missing piece" in Scaliger`s medieval chronology system (XVI century). They describe their methodology of studying of historical texts-chronicles, and give an absolutely new chronology and interpretation of the major events of Old Russian history. Bibliography.
