Restoring the genealogy of old peasants families is a very challenging task, not because of lack of sources, but because of lack of reliable methodology of their use. This monograph addresses this methodological problem, and presents the author`s results in building family trees of several peasant families of Russian origin, early settlers (starozhils), from the Tobol`sk Gubernia (end of the 16th-20th centuries). The monograph also describes the relationship between sibling and socio-demographic structures, and creates a basis for future genealogical studies of this social strata and other studies in local history.
