ISBN: 5860074808This monograph deals with the first military instruction (manual) written by A. Suvorov (1730-1800) when he was in command of the Suzdal infantry in 1764-1765. It is also about Suvorov service before he was promoted to the rank of colonel, the sources of his instruction and manuals of other great Russian commanders: M. Kutuzov, S. Vorontsov, F. Dmitriev-Mamonov, etc. The author compares available texts of old Russian military laws, and reconstructs the process of training and disciplining Russian infantry in the 17th century. He pays special attention to the Suvorov manual, and shows its place in the pool of documents.
