Vinogradskii (1856-1952), including the first translation into Russian of the monograph by the Nobel prize winner microbiologist Selman A. Waksman (1952). Vinogradskii left Russia in 1922, he was elected an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1923 and then, after Bolsheviks took control over science in Russia, consigned to oblivion. He had an unprecedentedly long active professional life, many of his discoveries were made in his last 30 years when he lived abroad. Bibliography by Vinogradskii and about him.
