Thi book is an artistic biography of Adelaida Kazimirovna Gertsyk (1874-1925), one of the least known but brightest figures of the Russian Silver Age. She was a Russian poet though she did not have any of Russian blood. Gertsyk`s works are done in the style of literary modern. The author also analyzes the esthetic views of Viach. Ivanov and M. Voloshin, the first critics and fans of the Gertsyk`s verses, who compared her with the Roman Sibyl and her poems with the papyrus scrolls of prophecies. The book portrays A. Gertsyk against a background of Russian culture of the Silver Age. Natal`ia Bonetskaia, a historian of Russian literature and philosophy, is the author of many monographs. Bibliographical comments. Also available: Gertsyk, Adelaida and Evgeniia. Sestry Gertsyk: Pis`ma (2002); Gertsyk, A. K. Iz Kruga Zhenskogo (2004).
