The area around the Carpathian Mountains was traditionally part of what is called Greater Russia. Despite the long years of Polish and Austro-Hungarian rule many of settlers of Galicia preserved their Russian identity. The movement to join the Russian empire and the Orthodox Church became especially active in the 19th century. The Austro-Hungarian authorities persecuted many thousands of the Russian population. This collection is devoted to the 90th anniversary of genocide against Russian population in Carpathian Rus in 1914-1916. It includes articles about Russian Renaissance, Ukrainian movement and its leaders, Mazepa`s army, four issues of the Talegof Almanac, the Talegof tragedy, review of Galician-Russian literature.
