This is the first book of memoirs about Lev Gumilev (1912-1992), the son of Russian poets Nikolai Gumilev and Anna Akhmatova, and an outstanding scholar of encyclopedic scale who worked in several disciplines: history, culture, geography, philosophy, psychology, and oriental studies. He spent fourteen years in Stalin`s camps and was arrested four times. In between his sentences he served in the Russian army during WWII, graduated from the university, and defended his doctoral thesis. Many of the memoirs were written for this publication. The book also includes unpublished works of Gumilev, materials, and documents about his life. Compilers prepared two more volumes of unpublished works and correspondence of L. Gumilev: Dar Slova mne Byl Obeshchan ot Prirody and L.N. Gumilev v Perepiske. Standing order is available.
