This is documentary novel about the Russian diplomat Boris Kurakin (1676-1727), one of the comrades-in-arms of Peter the Great. He negotiated peace several times (Utrecht, Amsterdam, Aland, Haage) in the course of the Northern War of 1700-1721 and helped to build a coalition in 1714-1715 with the English king George. After the war he became Russian ambassador to Paris (1724-1727).
