This book continues the publication of the fundamental study of the "Kirillo-Belozersky monastery and its organization in the second quarter of the 18th century" by Academician N.K. Nikol`skii (1863-1936), a historian of the Russian Orthodox Church. The current second volume describes the management system of the monastery, monastic community life and of their private life, liturgy and other services. The monastery was founded by monk Kirill (1337-1427) in 1397 in Belozer`e, and later became the largest center of spiritual life in this area. This work shows how monastic life developed with time: the community of "nestiazhateli" changed to a patrimonial estate, and the monks lost most of their ideals ("obmirshchenie"). Indices.
