This monograph studies the dual nature of money as it was shown in works of well known Russian economists S.F. Sharapov (1855-1922), M.I. Tugan-Baranovskii (1865-1919), and I.I. Kaufman (1843?-1915). Each essay includes a biographical sketch of the economist and his understanding of money and its dual essence. Iurii Bazulin (1954) shows how the ideas of these economists were used in creating the financing system of Russia in 1929-1930. The author includes detailed bibliographies of these three economists and works about them and their ideas.
