This is a documentary novel about the whole life of Nestor Makhno (1889-1934), one of the most popular leaders of peasant opposition to the revolution of 1917. Under the anarchist flag he fought sequentially with the Austrian-German army, the Hetman, the White and the Red armies. He made terms with the soviet government three times, and each time broke the agreement and started a rebellion. He escaped from Ukraine to Romania in 1921 and ended his life in Paris rejected by the Russian Diaspora. This novel was televised in Russia.
