This new volume in the series "Traditional spiritual culture of the Slavs", started in 1991, deals with magic texts from Russian manuscripts of the 15th-19th centuries. The author is mostly interested in love charms and charms addressed to people in power (zagovory na vlast`). The book is based on previously unknown materials discovered by the author in archives of Russia and Ukraine. Appendices include an index of Russian spells of the 17th-19th centuries; Greek magic texts from Egyptian papyrus. Bibliography and indices.
