Georgia is used to being called the brother republic (“bratskaia respublika") by Russians for more than a century. Many Russians still feel this way. What makes this old woman, a professor of Russian in the Novosibirsk teacher`s college, come to Georgia every summer? Goriukhina comes to this country not for vacation or business trips but to support her brothers who are in trouble after many years of the Abkhaz-Georgian conflict. She writes about refugees and other people in need, about strange actions of the Russian authorities which rather escalate the conflict than bring peace to this land. Goriukhina is a volunteer peace force and witness at the same time. She reports about all the hot spots on the territory of Georgia: from Tskhinvaly and Sukhumi to Pankisa Canyon.
