Language: Russian
This monograph studies the protocol and style of letters of the Crimean Khan chancellery, the widely known school of written diplomacy of the New Time. Sagit Faizov (b. 1953) chose letters of Crimean Khans Gerei III and Muhammed-Girei IV to Tsar Aleksei Mikhailovich and Polish king Ian Kazimir for analytical presentation. Both letters are written in the period between the Pereiaslavl` Rada and the beginning of the Russian-Crimean war: 1654-1658. The book includes originals, translations made in the 17th century in Posol`skii Prikaz, and their translations by the author. Faizov focuses on mystifications and functional mistakes made in Posol`kii Prikaz. Also available by the same author: Islam v Povolzh`e. XVII-XX vv. (1999).
