This monograph analyzes and organizes materials on the history of Central Asia, in particular the Old Turkish civilization, extracted from Old Turkish runic inscriptions and manuscripts, compares them with other sources, and summarizes historical studies and the results of source studies on the subject. Based on all available sources the author portrays the Turkish Khaganate, or Turkish Empire (576-1918). It allows one to speak of the 1,500 year history of Turkish literacy. This book is a result of many field studies and concludes the author`s lifelong research published in his over 200 publications. Bibliography (pp. 502-557).
