Iurii Elagin (1910-1987), a Russian violin player, found himself in the USA after WWII as the fates decreed. His memoir is about the fate of artists in the USSR and the soviet policy on the arts in 1930-1940s. This book circulated in Samizdat, and then was translated and published abroad. This is its first publication in Russia.
